John Dickson Side Lever Rook Rifle
A wonderful example from this Iconic Scottish maker. The 26 octagon barrel chamber in the ever popular .22 Long Rifle caliber. The top barrel flat features machine cut serrations ahead of the front and rear sights to reduce glare. Rear sights platinum lined are comprised of one standing two folding, graduations of 50-100 and a very optimistic 150 yards!. Circa 1900, originally chambered as a Rook cartridge, the rifle was converted to .22LR. and re-proofed as such. The action is engraved with touches of fine scroll and retains a remarkable amount of vibrant case color hardening. The finely checkered side lever, top strap and bottom spring shimmer with original rich fire blue. The stock of highly figured walnut has flat top checkering just as one would see on a Best Round Action. The grip is finished with a case colored grip cap adding to the elegance of this little rifle. Slender forend with a buffalo horn tip. Length of pull 14-1/2 inches. John Dickson guns were always of Best quality as shown in this little single shot. Cased.
